Ali Coes Tutoring

Hi, I'm Ali! I'm an English tutor with over a decade of classroom experience.

I'm a certified English Teacher with 12 years of classroom experience. I've worked as a classroom aide, 1:1 aide, Theatre teacher and English teacher.

I started my teaching career after graduating cum laude from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor's degree in Theatre Education. After teaching Theatre for a few years I decided to pursue my other passion: English. I completed the Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Licensure Program at Framingham State University and then trained in the acclaimed New Teacher's Collaborative at the Francis W. Parker Charter School. I am now studying to get my Masters in Education in Teaching and Curriculum at Fitchburg State University.

For the past 5 years I have been an ELA teacher, first in high school and most recently in 5th and 6th grade. I'm a word nerd who loves language but I understand that not everyone is like me! English as a subject can be quite tricky so I like to help my students by using my sense of humor to engage them. As an English teacher I've helped students who adore English and those who struggle with it or outright hate it. My experience in the classroom has helped me hone my skills; I know what it takes to help those who struggle.

I'm qualified to teach English Language Arts, including: reading and writing skills, grammar, literature, vocabulary, roots, and proofreading. I'm happy to travel to you or meet you at a local library. I serve the following towns: Sterling, Holden, Rutland, Princeton, Paxton, Boylston, West Boylston, Berlin, Bolton, Leominster, Shrewsbury, and Northborough. Don't see your town here? Let me know and we can find a way to meet!

My other passions include teaching theatre, singing and beatboxing in a cappella groups, hiking, cooking, and baking.

Reach out and say hi! I'm happy to tell you more about myself and my teaching style to see if we'd be a good fit!

“Ali is able to implement lessons that support students who need more practice as well as challenge students to stretch what they know and are able to do. She holds her students accountable for doing their best work and wants each adolescent she works with to have high expectations for themselves.”
